2007 explorer EB
I have an 07 explorer EB, the radio display is dimming and it keeps getting more faded. Instead of trying the fix i have read about i am thinking of installing an aftermarket CD player. Crutchfield says " i need a Factory Integration Adapter
Connect which will retain steering wheel controls, warning chimes, and factory amp in select 2005-up Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles." My explorer doesn't have steering wheel controls or a factory amp (that i know of) so do i really need the harness?

yes your explorer requires a harness its what powers the radio and puts the sound through to the speakers and pretty much the harness connects the after market radio wires to the stock radio wires pretty much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlFEK5Re0nY this is pretty much explains it all i have a aftermarket deck very easy install

I did mine with a kenwood bluetooth. It was pretty easy to do
I picked up the harness at best buy! just make sure you get the correct antenna adapter.
