- 1997 Mountaineer
I've completely restored a few vehicles in my time. A 1967 Camaro, a 1969 Camaro, a 1972 Convertible LTD and now doing an 81 vette and the 1997 Mountaineer(2 cars at once...not wise at all). The Mountaineer isn't a true restore since I gt it in such great shape, just some minor problems like the stereo.
The problem is I purchased the stock stereo online and after checking part#'s it seems to have come out of a 1996 Ranger. The problem is there are 15 wires and none seem to truely match. I have read that Ford was fairly inconsitent when it came to wiring which is making this little adventure just that an adventure!
Instead of spending a crazy amount of time trying to track down what wire is for what i was hoping someone had prior experience. Radio is the premium sound no cd and came with the two plugs with wires atached. Checked the rear quarter panel and there is an amp and sub.
I can list the wires if you like.
Thanks so much, Dave
...and this is a great forum for Explorers and Mountaineers
