2008 Explorer interior lights won't turn off

I have a 2008 Explorer XLT Ironman Edition. The interior lights come on when you open the door, but instead of quickly dimming to off once engine is started, they will stay on up to 30 minutes. I can turn the engine off and leave the vehicle and they still will not shut off instantly. Also, they appear weaker than before.

Fixed it!

Sorry for the lateness of this reply. I changed out the ignition switch just as polizi212 recommended. Everything works great now. Thanks for the help!
