2008 Explorer Navigation Issue

As far as what's in this, the TravelLink one is the most obvious mention. That's really the only one I took a look at myself outside of my own items. On my end, a lot of it is just the constant tweaks to commands, e.g. "Go home" being added, fixes for some phone contacts that contain emojis in them not working properly for "Call X" commands, addition of more options for calling contacts if they're stored in specific ways. Example there would be things like "Mom & Dad" or "Mom / Dad" where you couldn't just say "Call Mom" before. Hundreds of names have been improved for recognition, although those were taken from ~5,000 most common first and surnames. So, if the name isn't in there you may not see any difference. If you come across one that isn't working at all, feel free to ping me any time.

My 2008 Ford Explorer will not navigate to Ohio where we live. When we turn it on to plan to route to a destination, it keeps showing the Michigan map which is where we bought the car. It also will not allow us to change the date to the current date. Would you possibly have an explanation as to why it does this? Everything else works. I have been thinking that maybe the GPS is not sending signals to the radio but I just don't know. We took it to our Ford dealership and they couldn't figure it out either. It would be greatly appreciated if you had the right answer for fixing this problem. Thanks in advance. Looking forward to hearing something from you.

My 2008 Ford Explorer will not navigate to Ohio where we live. When we turn it on to plan to route to a destination, it keeps showing the Michigan map which is where we bought the car. I'd lean heavily toward a GPS issue. Does it default to Dearborn on the map? I assume you dropped a SYNC 3 into the vehicle?

I'm not knowledgeable in this area, however, I would say that everything on the radio is original for a 2008 Explorer. Not really sure what Sync 3 is but yes you're right, it does default to Deerborn Michigan and the time and date will not reset. Are the Ford dealerships aware of these fixes just released and will they be able to figure it out you think?

A 2008 Explorer does not have any version of Sync. You have a Clarion sourced nav radio. Ford used Clarion as the radio supplier back then. The Nav/GPS data is on a DVD/CD on theses units. You need to access it (I think there is an eject button somewhere) and see if the disc supports Ohio. Or if there is even a disc present. I can see the system defaulting to Dearborn MI if it has no other data.

I will look at that tomorrow and I guess the next step is to locate a CD/DVD for Ohio. Would that CD/DVD also cover all 48 states?

Like I said, every other option on the radio work. I think the GPS is also in working order because I just subscribed to Serius-XM and it works just fine. If I'm not mistaken, it's delivered by way of the satellite antenna. Or don't both receive their signal from the same source? What is the process for ejecting the GPS disk if there is one in the DVD/CD slot? I'm on the online trying to locate a DVD/CD for this particular radio. Hope I can find one that is in good shape. Thanks for your help. Edit: BTW, this one does have SYNC because it not only has buttons for it, it also has the little SYNC emblem on the console right between the shifter and the storage box. That also works fine. I play play Pandora on my Smart Phone sync and hear it over the radio.
