2008 Ford key transponder

Hi All,

Question, do ford transponder keys have unique codes? Example-Key one has Code A and Key 2 has Code B and the car can read both. Or, do both keys from the factory have the same code?

Each OEM transponder key has its on chip that must be paired with the system in order to function. The clone keys sold at big box stores clone the transponder chip in the OEM key it is copied from.

I understand that, but, does each original key have a DIFFERENT code, or, do they both have the same code?

I guess you could say each transponder "has its own code". yes, no 2 oem are alike.

Thanks, Tech! The reason I ask is that I am installing an aftermarket remote start system and it says it needs two keys to program and they cannot be clone keys.

I only have one key so I was wondering if I could just get a duplicate from Home Depot, or, if I had to go to Ford to get a non clone if they did in fact have two different codes.
