2008 Ford Explorer EBv6
Good morning all! I have a 2008 Eddie Bauer V6 Explorer with 82K miles. I know it's only a V6 but I'm possible interested in doing a K&N intake, a muffler back (simple) exhaust and tuner. I put 255 Nitto tires on a little bit ago so I believe the speedometer is off now... Comments on doing this!? Is it worth spending the money? I know I'm not going to get 50 more HP or anything... But I'd like to help it run better and try and get 5 more years out of it!

rwhp gain

You may gain 10 or 15 rwhp after doing all of that. I installed a custom intake, tune and high flow exhaust system and my max rwhp increased from 150 to 170. If you're not careful with your exhaust changes you'll lose some low speed torque which will decrease your fuel economy. I spent about $100 per rwhp gained. I hope to get another 50 rwhp gain with an M90 supercharger at about $75 per rwhp.

Suggestions for exhaust changes? I was thinking a Flowmaster (not sure which exact one yet) and have 3 inch pipe to the tip with a nice 8-10 inch stainless steel tip straight out the back! *i love a loud beefy exhaust... However it's only a v6!... I have a young baby... And I def hate the "pop/drone/backdraft" sound I've had on other vehicles in the past!

3 inch pipe too big

Even with a supercharger you don't need a 3 inch pipe and there will be tailpipe clearance issues between the pipe and the rear shock and the rear sway bar link.
