Does anyone know what ford plans the change for 2008 haven't seen much discussion of this or any documentation.

Since 2006 was a complete re-do and financially Ford is in dier straights... I think little if anything will change.

i realize that there is not going to be a redesign but what type of changes do some of you think they will make

I heard they were going to redo the inside door handles since I guess people have complained about them.

the first thing they should do is make it look like a suv like first and second gens not a huge minivan/suv/boat thing.

I think I saw some snapshots of what would be the 2008 the other night on American Idol (I know, sigh....) when they did their little "Ford skit" thing....

I think it is 20 seconds in... I could be totally wrong and it's the new Escape or something, but it's hard to get a sense of perspective...

(I apologize in advance for the horrible musical content)

that looks more like the 2008 Escape.

Amen to that! I hate the look of the rear end on the current gen. It looks so wide like a minivan hatch.

Rumor has it that the next gen due in 2010, will be a CUV, with unibody construction and maybe the same drive train as the Freestyle and Edge.
Don't know what it will look like, but if it looks like a first gen, I'll buy one.

Right now, the Escape looks more like a 1st gen Explorer. Interestingly, the Escape dimensions are very close to the dimensions of the old 2 door Explorer and the Bronco II, though the Escape is slightly longer than the Bronc. Oddly, the Escape V6 doesn't get better fuel economy that the 1st gen Ex. That 3L Duratec with the 4-speed tranny must be a pig!

Agreed! I seldom use 4WD low, except when it snows, but I would hate to give it up.
