2009 V6 Discontinued ECU Replacement

I've been desperately trying to replace my ECU on my 2009 V6 Eddie Bauer, but the part I'm looking for, 9L2Z-12A650-EDRM, is discontinued and been told it's obsolete. Anyone else had to replace their ECU and had success finding one, or went down the rebuild route? I've already had a refurbished one put in but turned out to be a dud.

Hate to have to get rid of my treasured explorer for an electronics part not being available anymore

I replaced my PCM not too long ago with one from ARES Technologies No1 Reman Pre-Programmed Engine Computer PCM ECM ECU and it was a good experience. I don't know if they have your exact PCM but it may be worth asking. If they don't then maybe they could point you in the right direction.
