Hey guys,

Gonna replace my speakers with some Blaupunkt 4 ways and a Blau head unit rated at 50W x 4. I don't listen to music really loud but do like to every ONCE in awhile. Is this ok without an amp? Any suggestions I'm all ears...

that headunit is not putting out 50X4. that is the peak rating which it'll never reach. the headunit is probably putting out 22-25 watts per channel. aftermarket speakers sound better when run off an amp. but you could run it off the headunit.

I would say stay away from Blaupunkt speakers. They are only mediocre at best. I used to have 6 1/2 Blaupunkt coxials, I think..in another vehicle. They sounded terrible without an amp. My $.02

I have JVC head with 12 disc changer and on the face it reads 20X4 and it still gets pretty loud--relatively speaking. Won't I be ok with the 50x4 even if that is the peak? Also, I think the new speakers will definitely help. Ill try to find some with less resistance, say 90-93 db range. Thanks.

yeah, it'll be ok. especially if you buy efficient speakers. the main problem will be some distortion at higher volumes. i run my components off an amp and my 6X8's off the headunit.
