Transmission chatter at speeds 30 - 40 mph - sounds like it's trying to shift No codes

Change the transmission liquid and the filter first.

Then check the ignition coils on the passenger side.

Make sure the whole trans harness wires are in good shape and condition.

Try to reset, relearn and to update the TCM.

Buzz hit the first three things I would try. I know from experience that old fluid can cause issues with the 6R80 transmissions as can low fluid levels. Check the sleeve where the wiring harness plugs into the transmission for fluid leaks. If it is leaking this can also cause issues and sleeve should be replaced ASAP. It is located toward the rear of the transmission on the upper passenger side. Also, do not have the transmission flushed. Just a pan drop, filter change and refill. Flushing can dislodge debris which can clog solenoids etc. and cause major issues. If the pan drop solves your issue then do another one within 3k miles as this will replace about 75% of the transmission fluid. A single pan drop only replaces around 50% of the fluid which is not enough for a transmission that hasn't seen regular service, IMO. Then do a pan drop and filter change every 50k miles. Below is a video regarding coil issues affecting transmission performance for Explorers with the 4.6L 3V V8s.
