2010 XLT CEL Flashing

Ok, so I bought a used 2010 Explorer XLT 4.0 Friday afternoon, and drove it all night, and it was fine. Ran a few errands Saturday morning, and then drove out to my brothers place (about 30 min on the highway). As soon as I get off the highway, and start climbing an easy hill, the CEL starts flashing, and the whole truck start misfiring and shaking violently. After turning off the road, into a parking lot, it dies. It would not successfully restart. Just kept coughing and sputtering, and then die.

So, did I buy someone else's problem child? Is this going o be one of those "chasing demons" forever kind of issues? I can still return it. It only has 60k miles.

Please help.

Get the codes first, it may be something simple. If it started before and ran, then hopefuly motor is good. Could be something with the ignition or fuel delivery.

You sure did, now pull the codes and tell us what they said. Have a look at my signature if you want to find out the worst that could happen. It's a sport trac but they are the same except for the box.

Ok, so I don't have the codes, but the dealer called and said its down in the motor. They're pulling it apart now.
