So I was completely lost by the options / lack of options for the struts on our vehicles. I noticed that frpp had a set of struts that fit all 2011 to 2019 explorers so i started there with the assumption that all explorer struts are the same. This turned out to be basically true atleast as far as fitment goes. I purchsed 2011 to 2012 struts for the front and 2014 shocks for the back all made by my perferred aftermarket supplier kyb. Also i found out that the top strut mounts from the 2014 are compatible with atleast my 2013 which had the old style non round mounts. I did this because I figured that ford had updated them for a reason. All that said and done im happy to report that everything bolted back up nicely and the explorer drives well again.

Bumping this to confirm as well that KYB 335621 and 335622 struts fit and ride great on a 2014 Sport. Not sure what the differences were from 2012 to 2013, but they are insignificant.

I know this is an old thread. So if I purchase strut assemblies for a 2014 - newer explorer will they will properly mount to my early 2013 explorer limited ?

Welcome to the Forum.
You can go to a site like Levittown Ford and check the part number to see which years it is compatible with. They also offer discounts to forum members.

Thank you . They are different, but I’m not sure what all changed. I just watched a video that said they mount up, but the shock stabilizer bar may be different. I found a good set of new struts for $100 , but I guess I won’t save money today and will just get my vehicles correct struts.
