Hi,

I'm having an issue with my 2013 XLT. On occasion, it just won't start. All of the electronics come on but you turn the key and nothing happens (but the engine light stays on). Today, it left me sitting in the parking lot at work....30+ tries later as I was on the phone with my husband to come get me, it started. I brought this to the attention of my dealer when they did the fuel system recall work but they "couldn't recreate the issue". Before I call the dealer back and get frustrated, is anyone else having this type of issue? It only happens sporadically and with 13K miles, I'm losing faith in my beloved ruby red explorer as this would make my third trip back for warranty work. My 2004 Explorer was absolutely bulletproof for 120K miles, so this is frustrating! Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi RoadExplorer,

Shoot me a PM with your information; I want to get your regional customer service manager looped in on this. In your message, be sure to include your name, daytime phone number, current mileage, VIN, and preferred servicing dealership. I'll get this moved up the line.

Welcome to the Forum RoadExplorer. :wavey:
Sounds like it could be the starter motor, if they still have such a thing. On older cars I know that sometimes just being able to move the vehicle a foot or so would fix the problem. That usually indicated a bad spot on the starter windings.
Note: in order to help members answer future concerns etc., it would be very helpful if you added the model (XLT) to your profile so that it shows in the left column. Not all models are the same.
Happy motoring and good luck.
