2013 Explorer Sport
I started working with multiple dealers on April 1st and was told by a couple of the dealers that is what not possible to order a 2013 sport. Luckily I found this forum and learned that there was still a hope. I then went back to a couple of the dealerships and they informed me the reason why they said No was because the package 402a was listed as Limited Availability with a high risk to cancel the order. I did eventually get an order submitted on April 9th, but I was wondering if anybody here had heard the same thing when they were submitting orders at the end of March or beginning of April? Thanks All!

Hi sbebs2000,

Congratulations again on ordering! I haven't heard from other customers who have received that message, but perhaps more people from the forum will chime in. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Not true. There are currently no constraints on 2013 Explorers. However, due to way dealers are allowed to order vehicles it might not be possible for a 402A to get scheduled from your dealer on the next round. A 402A has the lowest build rate of 2% of all Explorers, therefore Ford must limit how many orders they accept for each package. Being that '13 Explorer orders are no longer being accepted as of last week it's possible your order gets bumped to a '14, which doesn't start production until 6/3.

Thank you, that makes a bit more sense. I did order from the largest dealer in my county as they said they had the highest allocation, so I hope that helped. Crystal has been wonderful and has kept me updated on my order.

If your order gets scheduled and you receive a vin then it went through and was accepted.

I'm sure the %'s are low just because they don't make nearly as many sports as other explorers....but do many people really get a Sport and not get the 402A packaged? I'd guess that Sports probably get the package upgrade more then just about any other trim, limited included!

The 401A Sports are 5% of total retail sales, 402A are 2%.

Riley - thanks for the great info you've offered on this an other post - much appreciated !
