Just got out of a Toyota after leasing them for 11 years. Picked up my new 4WD XLT March 2nd. So far I put on 700 Miles.

First problem: when accelerating, feel a slight vibration from the front, as if it were front axles that were vibrating.

Second problem: Driving this passed sunday, doing 65 on the highway, and heard a bump sound. Look around, and notice my hood bouncing up and down. I opened the hood when I picked the car up 2 weeks ago, and know for sure I latched it perfectly well. Besides, I put 500 Miles on it and THEN this happened.

Any of you guys have experience with those two things at all??

Welcome to the Forum George13.:wavey:
I also came over to the Ex after leasing 3 Highlanders over a 10 year period.
There were many posts about vibration issues mainly with the 2011 models and some 2012's I believe. I'm not sure if anyone had the issue with the 2013.
I did a quick search and came up with this thread;

Hi George13,

I recommend taking your Explorer back to the dealership so they can take a look at your two concerns. Additionally, I can create a case escalation for you to get your regional customer service manager involved. To get started, send me a PM with your VIN, dealer, mileage, daytime phone number, and full name.

Thanks!

Crystal

From my experience, I don't notice the vibrations at all, but on certain types of pavement, I will get some vibrations at a certain speed and RPM. I'm wearing boots so it has to be very vibrating to concern me but it only does it on certain pavement.

For your 65 on the highway thing for the hood. Closing the hood for me was the hardest part when I first had the car. I would pop it up, then try to close it, and it would not close... I got so scared, I pressed as hard as I could and it wouldn't close. Then I just picked it up and slammed it down to be closed.
After a few hood openings and closings, it closes perfect now. I think with everything, you have to break this car in a bit, even with the hood and all the seats. Everything has to fit tight spaces. Your hood will seat in eventually.

I went through the same experience in trying to close the hood. Went through various stages in trying to get it to lock. Finally determined it had to be dropped from a certain height and with some force. It is unlike anything I've had to go through before and I have not been able to get to lock by just pressing down on it. Since it is aluminum, I don't think I'd want to press too hard anyway.

Same here.. can't push it down and have to drop it from a good foot or more for it to lock.

I bet you didn't close it well enough.
