2014 Exp Sport - $46,000 OTD good buy?

Went to Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA "worlds # 1 Ford dealer 24 years in a row!" Great staff and good service, I was very impressed.

Look for maybe dealership #347 .....thay might be a little more hungry for your business.

Look for a xplan pin as I said. That will get you close to invoice. Also, go to the ford.com website and request a brochure through the mail. Usually there will be a $750 coupon in there you can use which will get you under invoice. The coupon normally takes a couple weeks to receive.

To the OP,

I just purchased my Black 14' Ex Sport Friday before last.
Options - 401a, Dual Moon, Adaptive Cruise, Tow Pkg, Floor Mats and Cross Bars.

According to Kbb, invoice for vehicle comes to $46,226
MSRP on sticker is $49,330

Cars Direct.com offered to deliver vehicle to my door for a total vehicle price of $45,400 if I remember correctly - problem is they could not figure out when they could get one to me.

Finally, I found one @ a dealer about 2hrs away from me in Folsom - we negotiated over the phone and got to $45,800.

I felt this was a good deal given I couldn't find a Black Ex Sport anywhere else in the state of CA...

All pricing mentioned includes the $2k ford rebate. Out the door, Taxes added about $4400 more, license/reg was another $400 or so and I opted for the prepaid maint plan for $2200 which brings my OTD to $52,800...hoping that main plan pays for itself but I suppose that's a topic for another thread. :)

Good luck in your deal!

For whatever it is worth to the OP, I have been told by a few different people already that it would be a great idea to do LoJack or comparable system for these cars. Apparently they are high on the list for ******* thieves... That may provide more value than your thinking about if they dealer is offering to "throw it in" at ~$46k, though I don't know what the monthly or yearly cost to keep that service is...

Blwnsmoke, I appreciate your feedback and answering in behalf of my original post. I'm going to request that brochure and see if I can get that coupon. MyTruckNow's comment was a waste of MB space, put I guess everyone has right's to their opinion. I'm glad the forum deleted his comment, I like how someone is monitoring our postings.

Regards to the Explorer, another local dealer told me there is no way Galpin would sell the Sport for $46K OTD, he told me if that was the case, he would buy 2 for himself. Pretty much told me I was an idiot to walk out at that price. He also gave me his spool on how Sunrise Ford needs to keep their lights on, blah blah blah.

It looks like most people pay around $43K - $46K for a Sport + 401A + Dual Moon Roof. I'm staying firm at $44K, so I guess my search continues.

As I have posted before in similar threads, in my opinion, a good deal is one that you, as a buyer, are happy with. It's your money that is being spent. Good luck in your quest. :)

Exactly right Peter! If you feel like your happy with the truck and the service you got from the dealership then as Long as your comfortable with the price and think its good, then it's a good deal. If you hated the truck but got it for $40k is it still that great of a deal?

completely agree - if you continually look to find out what people paid for their ride to compare with what you paid your setting yourself up to eventually be disappointed. If you know invoice, and you know what your willing to pay then your already ahead of the game.

as an aside, you may want to check out carsdirect and see if they can help you. My GF bought a Lexus IS and the whole thing was SUPER smooth and easy and paid about $400 over invoice. If nothing else, you can use their site to document total cost to you and take it to your dealer to try and match - your dealer may be in their network which will make for an even more interesting conversation.

Is this the Ford Loyalty rebate....like they did a few years ago? Thanks.

Not sure that it is called loyalty - it just shows up as an incentive in my area . There is the option of 0% financing or 2k cash back rebate.

Check out ford's website - explorer page then bottom left hand side there is a link to "Find Special offers and incentives in your area".
