I've searched and searched, chatGPT'd and more to try and find the right sizes. But does anyone know what bolt sizes are needed for installing the front and middle center console brackets, along with the brackets to center console?

Currently using the sizes from GPT and 3d-printing test bolts before I buy any actual hardware to get thread size, will just use a micrometer to get length. Worst comes to worst one gets broken off inside one of the holes but I'd be able to get it out with a hot flat head screwdriver. But if someone already knows then it'd save me a LOT of time.

I've also been dealing with ****ty wrecking yards trying to get a console. First one came busted up as **** when I took the panels off. They're gonna swap it with another but it's taking them forever to get me a new one. I'm doing the De-Policify rewiring with the fuse box. (SHOUT OUT you helped me so much)

Just finished one print as I'm writing and can confirm that it's an M6x1.0 that fits from the console base to the bracket.

ChatGPT has come up with this:

M12 x 49.5mm Self-Tapping Console Bolt: This bolt is used at the front of the console.

M6 x 25mm Hex Head Bolt with Washer: This bolt and washer assembly is used for the console panel.

M5 x 16mm Console Bolt: Another bolt size used in the console assembly.

I'm not aware of Ford or anyone else using an M5 bolt. M6x1.00mm is very common. M12 should be a seat or belt size - not console.

Just found out all of the bolts in it are just M6x1.0. Console brackets to floor as well as bracket to console.

What a coincidence! I just learned that, too, in the JY. :D But unlike most Ford M6x1s, they have 10mm head, and are WAAAAAAAYYYYYY too long.

What sizes did you end up using length wise did you notice? Should be able to pick up my console tomorrow and start getting *some* wiring done as parts come in before I'm down for a bit from a back procedure in a few days.

I wonder if I can just get them at ace or something.

What sizes did you end up using...?
I haven't used any - I only pulled the console at the JY, and I didn't measure the bolts. But whatever Ford used, you can use shorter. And I'd use the more-common 8mm headed bolts., like the ones holding the shifter to the console.

I'd guess you can get something there, but they'd be overpriced garbage compared to genuine automotive bolts that are virtually free in any JY.

Sorry for interrupting:

Could you please help me with the harness that has two small LEDs that go under the cup holder? I think I've burned them out and I'd like to replace them. What is the part number?

And sorry again...

No Problem :)

I can't tell what you need from that part number or year, however, De-Policify makes this part that accomplishes the same thing and maybe a bit nicer with this part here. 2011-2019 Ford Explorer Cup Holder LED Ambient Light Ring Kit

Hope this helps. If you want some more help with just finding the part I need to see some more pics.

Edit:
This may be the part you're looking for if you're in a 2014/2015
it will at least give you the part number you're looking for.

Thank you for the reply. I have a 2015 police car, but I installed a center console from a 2018 Ford Explorer.

What you are seeing there is the new-style LED modules used on 2018 and newer. Instead of being two wires like the 2011-17, it has three wires, the third of which goes to a LIN bus. Unfortunately there is no workaround for those LED's since the LIN would send a signal telling the LED which color to use. It is more efficient because it uses less wiring, but very inconvenient for retrofitters like us PIU owners.

My last problem I'm having on this install is finding what goes into this slot here:
At this point i might make a black 3d printed part to fit into it. I've just not used CAD before. This might be a good start perhaps. The AUX and USB cables are cut in the dash as far as I can tell and I don't really have a use for them either way. I also would like to delete the SD card slot and RCA plugs in there.

There is a plastic cover that snaps in to that spot. It was not for a media hub. It should be an easy part to source from a junk yard. Also there is supposed to be a rubber liner that fills the entire inside flooring of that cubby which would also cover that hole. It may be worth checking your local salvage yard.

Thanks a bunch. Just put my center console in and wired it all up like your guide said and it works great.

Left the back panel off to install your climate control replacement part in. Ordered that and the speaker grills. Again, you've been a ton of help. Thanks.

Glad to hear it!

...what goes into this slot here:
I think it's the access cover for the shift lock emergency release, but I haven't read the '15 owner guide for my console yet.

I think it would be pretty complicated unless you have a 3D scanner to get the shape. I have the part in the console I'm installing, and the rubber insert (which can be found on eBay). And the access plate is not a simple shape. I attached some pics.

I'm getting close to doing the same, but I'm re-thinking the grills. I noticed you say you can customize the HVAC filler - how about the grills? I've never 3D-printed anything, but I'd like to add snap-lock tabs to the grills so they hold themselves in the door panels without the heavy block you used in your video. And I'd like to add acoustically-transparent cloth to their backs (that I'm ordering) like the dash speaker grill has, which would be easier if your grills had a few needles sticking out to stab the cloth onto, and then melt over to keep it in-place. I can do it with glue, though. And I'm shopping for expanded metal that looks like the front grills, which would require a few other "little" modifications. ;) Does that sound like something you'd consider adding to your grill design, or too much work? Not knowing much about it, the snaps seem like they'd be pretty easy. The needles might break during shipping, though, so glue is probably easier for anyone who wants to add the cloth.

I got the mesh & cloth, but I haven't tried bending the mesh to a shape yet. I'm trying to figure out a way to make a bezel around the grill that will look similar to the fronts...
