2015 Explorer XLT
The height adjustment on the drivers seat of my 2015 Explorer XLT has stopped working.
I know it is not the switch as I have already checked it. The motor does not make any noise when switch is activated.
I am pretty sure it is the motor.
Can anyone point me in the direction to find a replacement motor and instructions for this repair? I can find the horizontal motors but not the one for the height adjustment.
Btw. The seat is the 6 way adjustable not 10 way.

Thank you

There are 2 motors shown here; AutoNation Ford White Bear Lake | Parts & Accessories One for those with memory and one for without memory.
Are there actually 2 motors for the seat? I've never had reason to check and just assumed it was one motor with variable functions.

HiPeter,
There are actually 3 motors.
One for each adjustment.
- horizontal
- tilt
- vertical

I believe the motors shown are for horizontal (front to back) adjustment.
My fear is that the height adjustment motor is actually part of the seat base and cannot be changed by itself.

So I pulled the seat out to get the part number of the motor.
I pulled one end of the unit off and twisted it as it would if the motor was turning. It was very tight until I spun it a couple of times. I reassembled it and wrote the part number down.
The part number appears to be 8U5A-617C11-AA.
I put the seat back in and now the vertical adjustment works. I am planning on having issues with this again in the future so I will keep the number.
I checked and cannot find this number on any Ford parts site. I will call a dealer on Monday to verify.

This thing will be a project if I ever have to replace it. You have to completely disassemble the lower portion of the seat to get to 2 of the bolts that are on the motor end of the part.
The part is circled in the picture. Yes, I believe the whole thing can’t be separated..

Hope this helps someone else that may have the same issue.

Thank you Peter..
yes I found that one also. That item is for a Lincoln MK I think.. the fitment guide says it will not fit the Explorer.
Thank you for the help..

I'd be interested in what the dealer says. Good luck.

Service Manual:

Front Seat Track Motor

There are 3 front seat track motors present on power seat tracks. The horizontal (fore/aft) front seat track motor is the only seat track motor which can be serviced separately from the seat track assembly. All other seat track motors (front up/down, rear up/down) are serviced as part of the seat track assembly.

This means the motor will not be sold separately.

I know this is a late post.. butJMR061, you are correct. The height and tilt motors are not serviceable. The whole base must be replace... at a cost of about $300-$400 for the part not including labor.

If passenger seat is the same pop out seat switch and swap to verify, then buy good used seat
