- 2016 Explorer XLT
New member here, any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am the owner of a 2016 Ford Explorer XLT. In November, I started getting a "Service Advance Trac" error when I started the vehicle. It currently has 82,000 miles.
I took it to a Ford dealership twice, and they were "unable to duplicate" the error and assumed it went away. It returned after my visits, and I again returned to the dealership, where they reprogrammed the steering control module and said it was a communication issue. This did nothing to resolve the issue, and it resurfaced again. I was then told it was due to the battery, and replaced the battery. This did not resolve the issue. I returned to the dealership and they rewrapped the wiring bundles and greased pins. This did not resolve the issue and again it came back. I then returned and was told it was the throttle body that need to be replaced. I replaced the throttle body, but that too did not resolve the issue. Now, I am being told that it is the steering column. This is a $2200 repair and I was told "they think" this will fix the issue.
I have found that the error seems to only trigger when it is below 35 degrees and only comes on the first start of the day. Any suggestions/feedback that anyone has had similar to this? I truly appreciate any suggestions/feedback. After several contacts with Ford, they agreed to cover $1600 of the repair even though my car is out of warranty, but I am still on the hook for almost $700 for a repair they can not ensure will resolve the issue. Being the 7th repair, I am not confident this will resolve it either.
