2017 Explorer Sport - extras or standard?

Love the new dash display. It was one of the reasons I got the Platinum. Got tired of looking at the same display that the 2011 Limited and the 2014 MKT had. Really like the ability to set the speed to a digital readout.

Congrats!

What color?

I really liked the Sport. Def handles better, hugs the roads on turns, less sway.

I hope you have a blast in it!

Forgive my mis read, late night, tired.

No apologies required brother.
We're all on here because we're Explorer owners and it is a great vehicle (despite some annoyances).
I'm enjoying the power and towing capabilities of this vehicle very mch.

Even though the Platinum has the same EcoBoost Motor and 6F55 SelectShift Transmission the programming calibrations of these two is significantly different.

Shift points, and how the distribution of power gets to the wheels is set differently.

Sport suspension is tuned differently as well.

Sport sits 20mm lower.

Shocks/springs are tuned stiffer......approximately 33% stiffer overall suspension setup.

Thanks guys, enjoying the discussion. I didn't take the time to research the Platinum (none in stock at the time) but alas, my mid-life crisis is here (so the wife says) so better take advantage of the Sport features whilst I'm in "that phase" and shout out a Jeremy Clarkson'esk, "Power!!!" now and again haha.

The Platinum has front massaging seats.:D

Update: so 400km's in and I'm still smiling when I launch at the lights! I was lucky enough to have a vehicle with:
  • Adaptive cruise control and brake assist;
  • BLIS;
  • Sony 500w sound system;
  • Power assist 2nd row folding seats (though drivers side chair is faulty); and
  • Inflatable 2nd row safety seat belts.
Just need to add some roof bars, some storage organizers and still pondering whether to purchase some black running boards...

Cheers all.

Not sure what you plan on carrying on the crossbars but be aware of the weight limitations.
The maximum recommended load, evenly distributed on the crossbars, is:
• 100 lb (45 kg) for vehicles without a
moonroof.
• 45 lb (20 kg) for vehicles with a
moonroof.

Have you gone to the Ford website to check out the packages and options? You can do a "Build & Price" on the vehicle and see what is available in which packages.
I know the paddle shifters are available on the Sport and Platinum but I'm not sure about the other trim levels. When you mention "stock roof bars" are you referring to the cross bars? I'm quite sure that they will not fit as the 2016/17 models all have a different roof rail system.

As for getting power to the dashcam there are a few threads on that already with different solutions. Here is just one of them.

I suggest that you familiarize yourself with the use of the very handy 'Search' feature (top right) that the forum has. You will find more threads on the topics above.
Depending on what you are looking for, there are features available on the Limited and the Platinum that are not available on the Sport. You can use the "Compare" feature on the Ford website to check that out.

Peter,

My XLT 202A has the paddle shifters so I'd assume it's fairly standard on the 16 & 17's. Maybe just not on the Base?

In Canada all that is standard equipment on the Sport except the Adaptive Cruise and Collision Avoidance w/Brake Support
