96 front diiff, reverse cut gears or standard?

Some folks are telling me that up to 1997 was reverse cut gears for the dana 35 front diff on my 1996 XLT 4.0, 5 speed.

Others say it stopped at 1994 and my 1996 is standard cut.

How can I tell for sure before I pull it apart to upgrade to 4.10s. I want all the parts on hand for minimum down time.

Can anyone supply me a good link to confirm.

I dont have any hard proof, I thought it was the first gens that had the reverse gear. I just swapped a front 4.10 diff into mine and have no idea what year it came from but the gears ran in the same direction. Maybe i just got lucky.

TTB front end have reverse rotation gears. 2nd gen IFS is standard rotation.
