All OEs work in mysterious ways, but I wouldn't put a tow recovery hook in the same category as a trim level feature like keypad entry or signature lighting. A tow hook is a sort of needed/useful item regardless of trim level, like the fuel fill funnel to add gas from a gas can. It's not really a selling feature for owners of high line trims levels vs base trim levels. If there isn't going to be a place to use it, why put it in the vehicle? OEs are always looking for was to save pennies and I have to imagine that tow hook has a cost of at least a dollar or more.Well, Ford also has 2 different driver door trim panels - one w/keypad and one w/out. The ones w/out are for Base and Interceptor models only.
Same applies to the signature lighting and (I'm pretty sure) the lack of glove box lighting.
They also include a wiring connector for my 2nd row seats - even though they're fully manual...
Ford works in mysterious ways apparently.
