Do you think it will find it's way into the Explorer Sport??
We'll find out, I hope so. I heard there's a chance the next explorer goes back to RWD bias.

I agree. I think it could also lead to a V8 450-500 plus hp special edition explorer.

I'm hoping for the 'VERY' special GT Explorer, you know the one with Ford GT Supercar motor with over 600 ponies!!!!
For the 'upgraded' price point, people will rather buy a X6 M, a Porsche Cayenne, or even the 'lowly' Hellcat.

In the Lincoln variant, little chance. In the Explorer, no. Same reason Lincoln has it and the Expedition doesn't. Lincoln gets the higher power as an exclusive (yes I know the raptor has it).
And I'm referring to the power level, not the motor itself)

I seriously doubt the Explorer will ever get that V8 engine. It probably won't even fit in the engine bay.
This is all speculation on my part, that IF they go back to a RWD bias explorer I think it could get a V8 or spawn a more powerful version. I bet a V8 could fit fine, people don't realize how much additional space is needed for those turbos, piping and intercooler work.

Is that true? I thought most of the cross models were rated the same, or damn close? Isn't lincolns "explorer" the MKT? Rated at 365. Also if Ford decides to develop a special edition Explorer it'll have more power, all the performance cars they offer are Ford branded not lincoln.

Lincoln doesn't have an Explorer equivalent. The MKT equates to the Flex. The new Continental and MKZ both can be had with 400 HP and 400 ft. lbs. torque. Is that true? The Navigator will have a 3.5L GTDI 450 HP engine and 10 speed transmission.

To go off what Peter said, yes it is true. Once the Aviator went away, there was no Lincoln version.
Ford fusion sport = 2.7 350hp
Lincoln mix = 3.0 400hp
Ford expedition = 3.5 400hp
Lincoln nav = 3.5 450hp
Ford edge sport = 2.7 315hp
Lincoln mix = 2.7 335hp
Yes, Lincoln offers either a premium (exclusive) engine or more HP in the same engine then Ford.

I think you meant Lincoln. BUT Ford offers all the true performance oriented cars. So my point is I think Ford well offer another trim like RS or whatever and it'll be a 450+ hp designed to market against the SRT cars and the new tahoe rst.

Hmm - so the 18's also won't get the 10 speed. To bad - wife likes her 15 sport but close to time to trade. Agree that the sport need another 100hp to really make a statement .... coupled with a 10 speed it would get my $$. Have to look around - hard to drop 60k on 2018 explorer that is virtually the same as a 15.

10 speed is a RWD transmission
