Our 2021 Explorer Hybrid Liftgate won't open. I replaced the fuses and it didn't fix it. I have been looking for how to open the liftgate from the inside, but have not been able to find any info on it. Does anyone know if it can be opened from the inside? There is a small cover on the inside which I removed, but there doesn't seem to be anything to push on or that moves to open the latch.

Thanks
Mike

It is a button near the light switch. Works on mine.

I know where the button is up front left of the steering wheel if that's the one you are referring to. When I push that button or the one on the outside, or the fob, the liftgate doesn't do anything. I'm hoping to find a way to open it manually from the inside. Some older Explorers have a tab you can push with a screw driver to open it. The obvious location at the bottom of the door has a small removable panel, but all I find under it is a flat metal plate with a bolt in the middle.

Hi Mike. I'm guessing that you just replaced the fuses to make sure they were good and not because they were blown. If you don't hear anything at all when attempting to open the liftgate either by using the fob, dash or liftgate button, it might mean that the 'gate' is not unlocking due to the failure of the locking latch. The following seems to be just for the manual one.

Thanks Peter. I do hear a click when I push the button on the dash. It sounds like a relay clicking, but not the latch trying to do anything.

I appreciate your response.

Cheers
Mike

I believe the 'click' you hear is likely coming from the latch but it doesn't seem to be releasing the 'gate' so that the actuator (motor) can take over to open it. If you are still within the warranty period, it may be best to have the dealer check it out.

It's headed to the dealer next week and it is still under warranty so hopefully a painless fix.

Just for kicks, you may try unplugging the negative terminal of the battery for a few minutes and letting all the modules (including liftgate module) reset. I've had a number of odd electrical things happen over the years and doing this has been surprisingly effective.
