2022 Timberline burning smell

2022 Timberline 600 miles. Smell at start up, smells like burnt electrical. One week after picking up key fobs stopped working with remote start. Dealer reset key fobs and, said they did not smell anything. Without asking they bombed our car, now it smels like a perfume factory. Two days later key fobs wont remote start, and burnt smell is back when warming up.

Take it to a different dealer. I’d file a complaint about the perfume scent.

Definitely a Warranty Issue.
Hate to be a "Karen",, but Dealer needs to Find, Fix, and follow up with you on possible electrical short, Fire, or worse.. Needs a complete exam, with a loaner vehicle for you.

You’re not a Karen for expecting a warranty repair on a brand new vehicle. You’d be a Karen if you expected them to fix a problem and you were several thousand miles out of warranty coverage. I’d sit at the dealer and complain to the point where they would sell zero cars while I was on the lot.

LOL, I've done that with an 08 RAV 4 prior to walking over to Ford Dealer across street. The Toy that had a mind of its own.

Have you checked around the vehicle to try and possibly isolate the source? Has the 'smell' been there since day1 or did it just start?
As for the remote start issue, do you have anything plugged into the power points or USB? That has been known to interfere with remote start.
BTW, the dealer is not obliged to provide a loaner. If it does, it is at their expense since the Warranty Guide states that Ford will not supply one.
Many dealers do as a courtesy to their customers.

I'd definitely be concerned. I just went to a customers house that had a new mach-e in it and the whole garage smelled like sulfur. Told him to not charge it in the garage unattended and take it to Ford asap. Of course the Ford dealer told him 3 weeks till appointment.

Just curious how distinct the smell is of being "burning" in nature. Only reason, is I have a 2021 Timberline and it, like probably all models, had some strong smells from the engine bay when new.

I can't remember how long it lasted, but I do recall it and one could probably put it in the realm of a "burnt" smell.

Not saying this is your scenario, but something to consider.

^^ Yeah typically after the first couple hundred miles, the new engine smells tend to fade away.

I have never experienced new car engine smells like the one posted or really and smell and I park mine in the garage. New car inside smells, yes, but not engine smells and I get a new one on average every 3 years. I would say that what Eric is smelling is not normal.

My 2021 Limited only has about 2300 miles on it so far. I live at altitude and when I take my favorite mountain road from 6000 ft. to over 10,000 ft. and park it, I get a terrible burnt plastic smell when I stop. The smell will come in through the vents before I park it. I'm beginning to get worried. There's no smoke at least. I know the turbo is really working but I've never had such a bad burning odor on a new car. I went on a long trip 6 hours each way last week and never smelled anything, it only seems to happen on this particular mountain road. I had a new range/oven earlier this year that had the exact same smell but that only lasted the first time or two I used it. I hope it goes away soon.

While I haven't noticed this in my 2020 ST, I have noticed a smell in other vehicles during an extended climb on a significant grade. To me it smelled like like hot transmission fluid. Perhaps this is what you are smelling, but I would have it checked out.

No, it's more like just burning oil or plastic. I don't get anything like trans fluid or engine oil. The temp. gauge is always 4 bars so I don't think the engine or the tranny is overheating. I'll bring it in if it goes past 3000 miles with the same odor

That's crazy that Ford won't provide the dealer the ability to provide loaners when the vehicle they sold is not operating as it is supposed to! How is that the customer's fault and why does a customer have to foot the bill or be inconvenienced? Wow....

In the meantime, don't park it in your garage.
