2025 Explorer Active - FULLYLOADED

—-
Finally is the Lincoln and explorer the same engine and transmission Peter? Is that why they are grouped together ?

——-
I believe that the site administrator (Rick) grouped them since they have the same platform.
The Aviator only comes with 400/415 which is scary quick in Excite mode. It uses a 10 speed transmission which may be similar to some Explorer trims.

CoPilot 360 is a subscription service that after the initial period, you must pay for it and it only works on Interstate Highways
The Co-Pilot360 is free. As for BlueCruise, Lincoln offers it free for 48 months after which it becomes a subscription-based feature. I'm not sure about the Explorer.

How much is the Ford - Google voice activated GPS etc per year? (After first 48 mos free ; can’t find it)

I found the sensors now

Had to sit in the 9• weather to go through the manual but I found them

Just In case anyone was wondering for themselves

I use Petro-Canada which is owned by Sunoco and uses the same gasoline. The top gas at Petro-Canada like Sunoco is 94 octane.
It, like Shell, and likely several other 'Top-Tier' brands, has additives to help keep the engine clean. I don't think you can go wrong by using any of the 'Top-Tier' brands.
I normally use 91 octane.

Peter
Peter with the 3L does it not require 93? Sorry for not knowing myself , but I thought a twin turbo with that much power needed higher octane. What is your Mpg like mostly?

(And I keep finding interesting info, this 2.3L engine was used in the previous mustang - no wonder it is so powerful — still, I am set on buying either a bolt on kit for a stage 1-2 boost OR if Livernois makes that boost controller for the stock engine, I would definitely spend $500-600 on that

Here’s my (start of my) final questions - why can’t the Mustang 2.3L controller/tuning kits or even last years engine be used? IOW why is the ecu different and needs to be cracked anew when they are essentially pre existing engines with already a variety of aftermarket tuning products?

PS anyone else besides myself interested in the Livernois boost controller in particular ? Or what tuning kit or bolt on kit are you looking forward to?

I am keeping this car 100% stock because it’s honestly good as it is; I just want to be able to get more boost; pretty sure you can safely boost this engine to 350hp on stock internals , do you guys agree?

Anyone with a 3.0L looking to push theirs past 400hp?

And thanks @Dale5403 ! I couldn’t find that thing - I’m so bad at internet searching ! Thank you lol

From the manual;

I usually use 91 octane but have tried 89 lately without noticing any difference.

The owners manual is your friend here...

The minimum octane requirement is 87 octane. 2.3L or 3.0L. The ecoboost engines will run fine on it. That being said, to get the advertised hp and torque numbers, you need to run 93 octane to achieve that. The engine controls will adjust timing, etc... to take advantage of the higher octane fuel. The owners manual also suggests using 91 octane or better for towing.

We run our 21 with the 2.3 on nearly exclusively 87 octane regular and 88 octane E15 fuel as allowed by the owners manual. I don't tow with the Explorer (but do with an ecoboost F150 and use premium when towing).

No comments on the mods, other than the engine is a 2.3L, not a 2.4L.

Ohhhh understood now.

(Andooops; duh silly me : I knew that! Haha lol idk why I did that, I was typing that the whole time not sure why but thanks for the correction )

(I was reading the manual just today actually but, I was asking Peter bout his Lincoln [not about the explorer] ) but while I’m at it how’s your mpg on 87?

There is no charge for Ford Pass. It is a free app. The Hands Free With Mapping is a service that needs to be paid for.

Thanks boys

Ok now, I’m pretty much questioned out - for now anyway :D

This thread will be revived when a tuner/boost kit is unveiled

( assure you of that , unless , it’d be considered modified then???)

Until then - Ford (and Lincoln lol) Rules!

Hey guys

On a very cold morning, on a very cold start: (single digit temps)

Have you ever gotten failed 4wd/drivetrain error?

I ask because I started my car and it was like 7 degrees and when I went to start the car I got an error on the display that said “4wd failure “

So I checked my FordPass to see and sure enough an error was sent from my car to Ford central to report a power train breakdown …

Has anyone experienced that? What was the cause? What was the result ?

Good morning. I don't recall reading a similar post in this or the 5th gen forum. Does the warning go away with subsequent starts?

Peter

On 93 Octane this car is so fast
Fastest car I owned
300hp is more than I can even use around these parts
I’m happy keeping this a stock brand new 2025 active explorer fully loaded

I can’t believe the same jb4 tune I have for my bmw also is the same Berger motor sports jb4 that apparently works on my car now

They want photos of MAP An TMAP to confirm but they said from the looks of things it’s works

I hope so because it was what I was intending on getting to begin with
