No spare tire now?! Come on Ford.

It's not just Ford. Most EV's do not have a spare tire,

Oh I know it’s not just Ford, and even though this isn’t an EV this shouldn’t become an industry norm.

The spare tire is useless anyway. It is a nightmare to drive even a few miles with it. It feels unsafe and sounds weird. I have had it on once and avoided driving it until the new tire arrived, right when 2020 lockdown was starting! There was no where to go anyway when everything was closed.

I can see eliminating the donut spare if you equip the vehicle with Run Flat tires. But regular tires with no spare? geez. I hope that they save the space and allow owners to buy the spare and jack optionally.

Spare tires will be an option, as mentioned in the article.

I was so happy to see that our '20 ST had a spare. That is very important to me being that we live in the boondocks and have miles between service centers of any kind.

Very tired of reading about all the features that are removed while prices continue to increase.

My father in law taught my wife how to change tires when she started driving. Same for my mother and her father. It was considered part of the responsibility of driving a car.

Paid for the spare on my 2025 Platinum. My wife does too much highway driving to be without a spare tire.

I made my daughter take all 4 tires off with the pos jack and lug wrench from the 85 Escort my Mom gave her before she could drive it. Man did she freak out. She is 35 now and can change a tire faster than AAA. She got a flat coming off the George Washington Bridge at rush hour last month and called me to thank me for teaching her that. No spare equals no sale to me.

I've had more flat tires with my ST than any previous vehicle and driving with the mini-spare is downright nerve-wracking! It drives really poorly and sounds terrible making grinding and rubbing noises, with all the warnings going off for 4wd, etc. So much so that I never want to drive more than 5 or 6 miles before I got new tires! It's really just to get you home and to the tire shop as soon as possible, not for driving high speeds or longer distances.

You’re not supposed to put the spare tire in the rear, that’s why it acts so funny.

Do you mean the tire that was replaced by the 18" spare? If so, why would that be any different than carrying a load of something else in the cargo area? BTW, I've never driven with the spare tire, so I have no real-world experience with it.

Yes. The spare is supposed to be on the front only. You kind of have to play musical wheels :-)

I just re-read the manual and it only recommends installing the mini spare on the front if you are in AWD conditions, assuming it was replacing a rear tire. Good to know.

My 2025 Aviator came with the 18" spare as standard equipment.
