An other tire size question; I do plan on buying a '97 4 door XLT shortly and I do have BFG MT in the dimension 235/85-16 in my garage, unluckily not on Ford wheels, so I can't go and try them on. I love these tires and I would like to know your opinion, if they will fit on a stock Explorer (Stock? Well, the black plastic part underneath the bumper will go off, maybe also the s-bars, but for sure no lift) or if I better sell them with my current vehicle. The tires have one inch larger diameter than a 31x10.5 (about 31.5"), but are almost one inch less wide, about a 32x9.5, if this dimension would exist. Also, are the good old 8 spoke steel wheels made for the Explorer in a 16" diameter?

Thanks for the help, and tread lightly

Is this possible? No answers? I thought you guys have an answer for any question!! OK. Question to everybody with a post-95 Explorer and 30x9.5 tires: Approx. how much reserve do you have between tire and bumper, body anti-sway-bar or wherever it comes closest?
I hope somebody has an answer this time, or I will be thinking of buying a Chevy instead!! (Just kidding, I wouldn't dare)

Greetings and tread lightly

The overall size of those tires is 31.7x9.3 inches. There are a lot of people on the site that run 265/75R16, which is an overall size of 31.6x10.4 inches. I would have to say that if you did the torsion lift, you would not have much trouble running those tires. You can figure out this tire size from metric to inches by going to www.4lo.com and going under Metric Tire. Hope this helps. Dead Link Removed
