Hello

I need 2, if not 4 tires for my '01 Sport. Currently, there are 255/70/16 tires on it. I was considering just putting 4 new tires on it, keeping a nice matching set. If I did this I would go the 235 route. Whats everyones thoughts?

Main difference is width, maybe a little weight as well. Either or you'll be fine, I just like the look of the 255.

I also like the look of the 255, however I would prefer the price of the 235 and probably slightly better gas mileage too. Just didn't know if there was any real advantage to the 255. I dont do any serious off roading. However I might come across mud or plenty of snow/ice when ice fishing.

Once again, its just width. Tread pattern is the most important for off road conditions unless you are rock crawling. Then size matters!

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I went ahead and ordered a set of the 235s. About 95% of the time it will be highway driven. I just wanted a nice set of comfortable and quiet tires that would still do ok if I did end up in the mud. Snow/ice is certainly a concern in WI, and I'll also end up on the lake often during the winter time.

Not sure if I am missing something...

Did you go with 235-70-16 or 235-75-16...?

I went with the 235/70/16s.... From what tirerack.com shows, the 235/75s are a stock size but for the 15in. rim.

What color is your vehicle? Your Winters are pretty harsh... Did you get ATs?
