my friend knows somebody that is selling their Acura factory HID headlights. he is selling them for a tempting $250. i don't know much more detail, but I know its some kind of fairly new '00 or higher Acura (I might recall Integra). $250 for HID sounds extremely tempting but another friend of mine that knows a lot about the lighting. he says that they will not fit, but i could obviously custom fit them in the lamp housing, but without projectors, especially the open frosted light housing on explorers, that the light would be extremely bright and would be undirected and just shining evertywhere. is it worth it to try to make these fit, or even better yet, fit them in my factory fog lights?

another thing, ive been looking for a while for projector headlights for the '99. I've been keepin tabs on APC cuz they usually have the big selections especially for domestics. Has anyone heard that they are out yet?

I wouldnt recommend you buying them. If you do want HIDs on youre X, buy one of the Philips or Xenarc 9007 kits. A few of the guys here have them and love them. Most notably, Black Magic.

I'm not really interested in HID. i think they are a huge waste of money ($800-$2000) especially for an explorer. if i wanted more lights, i'd get some auxilliry for cheaper and brighter. but for $250 it would def be a nice addition.

I hear what you're saying. But to try to retrofit Acura HIDs on an X, sounds like asking for trouble, and you may end up wasting your $250. Like you said, those Acura HIDs work in conjunction with the Acura healight lense. The Explorer lense is totally different.

Acura lights will not fit. Trying to make them fit will break both the HID and your headlight housing. I got my HID for 400 and they are the expensive 7K blue temp version.

I'm not trying to flame or anything so don't take this personally. I'm not trying to judge or anything but since you're living in NYC, do you think those Acura HID's are stolen?? I've heard that the Acura CL's and TL's HID's are very easy to steal.

But back on subject, it's not worth trying to make it fit. Like what unabonked said, the ones that fits perfectly cost only a couple of hundred more.

i never said that this person owns an actual Acura! i also was thinking of buying a FEW pairs from him! just tryin to keep the site clean.

but thanks guys, i dont think im going to buy them anymore. your all right, i dont know what to expect, and i really really dont need HIDs. i said in another thread that it would be cool to custom mount a prjector lense from any other housing into the back of our factory housings. this will direct HID beams and keep the headlight lense matching the corner lenses. just wont look like you have HIDs. think of it as a sneaky pete.
