96 eddie bauer explorer, 200k on the clock, body in excellent shape, paint peeling a little on roof with a little surface rust there. AC not working, interior good condition for 200k. There's some dirt in the ATF, it probably needs a fluid flush, shocks are shot, but other than that, it runs well. My sister is selling it and will sell it to me for $2k.
My wife and I are about to have a baby and need something to be able to visit grandparents in. We only have small cars, 2 BMW 318ti's and a jeep wrangler, so going on trips we could use something bigger. My sister and her husband just bought a 4runner to replace the explorer, and since they were gone for the weekend, I borrowed the explorer to test it out and fix the AC. I found the blend door is broken, so I'm going to fix that now, then recharge the AC with some dye and check for leaks. I'm very mechanically inclined, so fixing things on high milage vehicles doesn't scare me, especially with the good info on this forum.
So, all that said, is this a good buy or not?
