265 /70 R17 stock hieght (yes they do)

So guys, im gonna be getting new tires soon and stepping up in size again.
Just want to confirm that they will fit.
Getting 265 /70 R17 General Grabber AT2

I read some old post on here that it might rub on some plastic liner on the drivers side rear which im fine with cutting or moving that to work. but is there any other spots?

ok cool. yea i just got the stock 17" wheels. i saw a couple really old threads where they fit fine i just want to make sure with the stock wheels with no spacers they work

I have 17" wheel stock on my 2006 LTD. No rubbing even on pothole-bounce. But I don't off-road in it.

any draw backs ?

Hello now that you have been running the 265's for a while anything negative to report ? I am thinking about the same size but am worried about rubbing etc, thanks.

Well now that iv had them for a little while I really LOVE them.
MPG went down some but that happens with bigger tires also still need to Recal my Speedo too.

Far as rubbing. None really. Just a tiny little bit on the driver side from plastic liner up front like maybe 2mm just enough to kinda here it.
Then on the Pass-side when backing up and wheel at Full Lock to the right it rubs the frame a tiny bit. but its on a smooth round spot so doesnt bug me and again that like 2mm. if you back off Full Lock just a tiny bit then it stops rubbing.

Dirt and Gravel: They work AWESOME!
MUD: They work better then most AT tires that arnt Mud tires. They clean out pretty well once you spin them.
Snow: Yup, pretty awesome. Some of the best tires of ever had for snow.
ICE: They work ok. You still can stop and steer and not feel like you lost total control but only tires that are really good on ICE are snow tires anyways.

Hi,
You don't have any problem with the new tires?
I tried to put 265/65 r17 and it doesn't let me use de 4x4. When I put the 4x4 hi I don't know if was the transmision or transfer, but it make noise. I contact the dealer and they said that I must put the pc on the obd to change the transmission ratio.

I cannot thank you enough for this thread banditxp! I've been searching high and low for this information and thought I would have to settle with 265/65s. My anemic 245/65s on my mounty are beginning to express wear bar syndrome and I have been trying to find a better/beefier alternative without any daily drive interruption, that otherwise would require a lift. I'm thinking of giving these a try:

They look great for Rexburg winters! Much appreciated sir and btw I love your rig, its stock but rugged. Just how I like em.

You have a v6 or v8?

I bet the v6's since they have less power and trans is not the same I bet maybe it triggers something. But also there are other explorers with lifts that have bigger tires than me so who knows. Maybe it's the year. 2008 some things changed.

Awesome man. You are welcome.
Yes I used to be a huge car forum poster back when I had my bonneville SSEi supercharged and use to make lots of helpful post. But my explorer really doesn't break or have problems so lol not much to post about lol

So happy to have found this post. I had AT2's on my F150 and loved them and was worried that I couldnt get the exact size for my explorer. I could care less about minor rubbing. Ill be getting me a pair!
