28 or 31 spline

I am wanting to know if my 1994 explorer xlt 4x4 rear end axels are 28 or 31 splines at the diff. I asked the question earlier and was told that only the 2000 and newer explorers have 28 splines and that mine is 31 spline but I was looking on ebay and one seller said that rangers and early explorers have 28 splines.Please help Thankx Dan.

Your axle is 31 spline for sure. However, it's interesting to know that 2000 and newer has 28. Never heard that.

Thats 'cause its not true. I know mine's a 31 spline.

All Xs are 31 spline except for some early 91 'prototype' models. Dunno for sure about 2002 IRS axles though.
