- 2000 Explorer XLT
I just purchased a 2000 explorer well taken care but of course has a few issues which some for me fall under TLC and maintenance like the squeeking
of the front end which having fords in my life since a kid im used to it but in process of fixing.
Question in hand I found a few fuses missing after purchasing the car and giving it a overall check and maintenance they are as follows.
all in the inside fuse panel next to drivers door.
#5 DLC
#27 DRL, Backup Lamps Switch, DTR Sensor, Electric Shift
#30 Park Lamp/Trailer Tow Relay
#31 Not Used
and
#35 Rear Blower Motor (w/EATC)
replaced all of them and 2 items not working are now working OD and backup lamps but i have an issue with one item.
Fuse #5 Data Link Connector
When i put this fuse in and i exit the vehicle if i beep the keyless remote
once everything is ok but if I beep it twice I get a horn confirmation and my
lights above the headlights turn on and STAY on indefinitly.
if I remove this fuse the keyless works fine beep it twice and car locks
and flashes the lights and horn once i have not been able to find anything else that is not working except for the typical intermitent radio display
which i might fix or replace with a better head unit.
What is the DLC?
What is it for and why if i click the remote twice my lights turn on istead of flashing should they not just flash as confirmation for the alarm / locks
By the way in case someone asks this is the factory keyless entry/security not an aftermarket.
If anyone in this forum if savy enough with the electrical on this vehicle
i will apprciate any help in resolving this dilema i have worked with cars for decades both the mechanical and electrical side but this has me stumped
Thank you
