Well I'm new to this whole thing and don't really know where to start. I want to get a lift for my 99' 2WD Explorer, the catch is its 2WD and I can't find anything - I've been looking all over the internet and I've been finding lift kits and all that good stuff for 4x4's but nothing for 2WD's. I was hoping you all could help me out here and basically give me suggestions on what I should do. And please don't flame me, hopefully I'm posting this in the right area; I've also been browsing around on the site and haven't been able to find anything to solve my problem, found a forum about 2WD and Pre-Runners but aside from that, nothing...

welcome...pro comp or fabtech makes a 3" spindle/add-a-leaf kit, superlift or trailmaster makes a 4" suspension lift, RCD makes a 5" coilover conversion kit, and if you want to go all out try camburg or dixon brothers..search those terms you should be able to come up with something..also check out the thread entitled 'Torsion Bar 101' at the top of the 'shocks/suspension' forum page...

you damn west coast bums with ur lifted 2wd's(shaking fist in anger)

definetly give a thought to the camburg ranger edge kit, its pretty good and a decent price as well (http://camburg.com/fordsprodEDGE.html)

any ranger edge spindle lift will work and a torsion twist for the front as well.

Thanks guys this helps A LOT. Just a few newbish question I guess :o .

white96x - Trailmaster or Superlift 4" suspension, I was on the Superlift site and it the only thing they had were for 4x4 explorers, can I still use the kit even though I have a 2WD one?

explorermatt001 - are we looking at the ranger edge entry level, because right now that's the only thing I can afford in my area unless I save up for a while.

and Mud Bug 94 - Living in AZ has it's perks ;)

well in nj we have rocks, mud, logs, snow and steep mountainus goat paths...NO SAND so a 4X4 is nice...BTW, i dont think a 4x4 lift would work on a 2wd b/c the knuckles and spindles are different but dont hold me to that... i fab alot more suspension parts then i do buy so i dont know all too much about "kits" ya know?

to be honest i would either go for the 3" pro comp or fabtech spindle kits with a torsion twist or if you're gonna spend over $1500 for the superlift/trailmaster you might as well opt for the camburg kit...you can go with whatever one your budget will allow...the entry level kit from camburg will be better than any of the other companies mentioned above, i might just be partial b/c i'm running that setup, but camburg is known for their quality and performance.

i heard someone on hear got 5 inches out of a TT,i also hear they wear the cv joints...but 2wd wont be a problem then will it...then 4 inch rear leafs...(found anywhere) and maybe shackles? but all this is a mega cheap way of doin it.

Explorer Lift

If you are still trying to track down a lift for your explorer. I have the same thing. The Pro Comp spindles were discontinued but fabtech is still making the spindles for the edge which work on our vehicle. I have worked in the industry for 10 years. If you would like buy some call 480-558-8588 and ask for Chris. Fabtech is back ordered on the spindles at the moment but we can get some on order for you. You will also need the dual add-a-leaf in the rear, alignment cams, and shocks. If you have any other questions give me a ring at the shop. Hope this helps you out.

Chris

having sand out here people still need a 4x4. people get stuck in sand as well, but anyways back to the real topic. Go with whatever you can afford and yes i was looking at the entry level caburg kit.
