Has anyone put a lift on a 2001 Explorer Sport 2WD? I've done the lower thing and I'd like to go a different direction. I'm happy to hear ALL of the Pro's & Con's of putting a lift on my sport. If anyone has links to kits or pics of lifted 01's let me know.

Some Cons I've thought of:
1. Higher chance of roll-over. (Can this be mitigated through wider tires/swaybar?)
2. Its a 2WD-why lift it?
3. Hows the ride? (I would think better with larger tires & more suspension travel, but I'm not paid to think...)

Thanks for the help.

i have a 4x2 yota, its not a 4x4 but its lifted

anyways.... do a search for lift spindles thats good for 3" of lift, you can also crank the torsion bars (good for as much lift as you want to deal with) normally around 2-3" on a 4x2 ... then look at soa in the rear, or add a leafs, or shackles

they are expensive I am waiting impatiently to buy them for mine just the damn shipping adds like $90.00 to the totall price.

it just sucks...

what company? Link?

I have found some sport trac body lifts, but I'm unsure if they will work on the Sport.

and one more question--what size tires can I run?

jc whitney and also 4wheelparts
both offer free shipping almost every weekend in an email...
i try every time but it is always just on Ups and not truck I guess that is always the catch.. it is expensive to ship cause it is so heavy..
anybody else any ideas???

Got the spindles and longer torsion bar adjuster bolts. SOA in back.
SIGNIFICANTLY rougher ride, but we have the worst roads in the nation in Boston, so it's no surprise.....
Rancho 9000s all around. ProCoomp tol me I'd need longer body shocks (which I purchased) but someone on this board argued I wouldn't. Don't forget that little nugget while searching.

I hear you with the worst roads...
Did you order them directly fromExplorer Pro comp and if so how much and did it come wioth add a leafs and also shocks...
I am In Fall River Ma.
DO you have an updated picture...

is it level with spindels on the front and SOA in the rear isn;t tht like 5 inches in the rear?//

I got the spindles from a guy off this website. Can't remember the ID off the top of my head. Supposedly you can order the spindles separately, but I never got a friendly person on the phone, so I was never allowed to order them factory direct. I think they're all from the same maker though......
Since I bought just spindles, I had to research shocks. I knew by doing an SOA in the rear, many/most people re-use existing shocks (or at least the same length) and I did just that (same length). For the front, I called ProComp about the spindle lift kit since it comes with shocks. I asked about the specs on the front shocks, and then called Rancho with the same specs and they sold two of those to me during their buy three get 4th free plus no shipping cost sale last May. Again, some people tell me I could've re-used the existing shock length... but hey, I went with what a manufacturer told me.
With the spindles lifting me 3" in the front, plus maxed torsion bar adjuster bolts about another almost 2 inches, I had about 5 inches of lift in the front. Since the SOA took me up about 5.5 inches, and I already had the longer shackles from warrior for a total of about 7.5 inches of lift in the rear, I needed to make the decision of getting stock shackles to lower the rear or longer (100mm) torsion bar adjuster bolts to raise the front. I drove with the rear of my truck two inches taller for about 6 months. It looked kinda funny.
Anyway, I finally chose the longer bolts.
Send me your address and I'll e-mail you a picture from over the weekend, with everything level (within a 1/2 inch at least).
Karl

Now for some 33" tires!

doesn;t that totally max out the front with the longer bolts...
I have my turned all the way and need to lower them a little which is why i want the spindals because the ride totally sucks granted I am waiting to replace all bal joints and tie rods i have those parts just waiting toill i buy spindals since it will all be apart anyway,,
do you have any wheel travel left because on mine it seems that i do not which is why i want to lower mine a little bit,
so i will have spindals and 1.5" up front totall or 4.5 of lift and back i got long shackles and also will do add a leafs and that will equal the front and back and should be good to fit 35's on...
