Newbie question about 4WD while driving. I'm confident I have a fairly good base on 4WD however I still have a question about it.
Things I've learned already (correct me if I'm wrong):
-4Lo must be engaged/disengaged by putting a stopped vehicle in N with foot on the brake and then turn the switch to 4Lo. At this point gears shift in the transfer case which effectively doubles power output to the wheels. 4Lo should not be used over 25mph.
-4Hi may be used at speeds up to 55mph.
-4WD is not intended for dry pavement driving
What I'd like to know is how you switch between 2WD and 4WD (hi). Can you do it on the fly while driving, just turning the knob/switch between the two options? If so, can you do it under acceleration or must it be done with either a steady speed or decelerating/coasting?
