3.5 Engine Interchange. Swap 2017 into 2013

I have a 2013 explorer 3.5 without oil cooler and the engine is bad. I just picked up a 2017 Taurus with 22k miles and will be swapping the engines. Has anyone had any issues putting a newer engine in?
Both vehicles are Vin 8. Don't engines have matching part numbers on all sensors, manifolds, long blocks, etc. I'm finding contradictory info on ebay with some sellers saying 2013-2019 3.5 duratec are compatible but others saying 13-15 is different than 16-19. LKQ shows them as being interchangeable. Was there any engine component change from 15-16?

I don't know if there were any engine changes 15-16 but the 2016 Explorer was a 'refresh' with, I believe, several software changes.

Engines certainly don’t have matching numbers on all parts. Often the short block assembly will span more a larger range than a complete long block.
