I've been waking up early down here in Australia and ringing the US to get the run around for a week or two now. No matter what I try I get stone walled somewhere.

I need to purchase a new pair or tail lamps for my 2004 X. 2002 onward all seem to be the same physiacl shape, however I need to have a 3 bulb lamp with an orange/amber turn signal to be legal here in the land "down under."

The dealers I've found that are knowledgable aren't allowed to post international, the others are ......................, well I'll leave them alone for now.

Several websites about the net suggest that the 2008X's or Mountys run the correct colour, but I'm still not confident, please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Scotty

Hi Scotty, The Explorer does not have a amber turn signal in the tail lamp. The Mountaineer does have a clear lamp with the amber turn signal from 2006 to current. Hope this helps.

It looks like Oz has an amber tail light law... Check out some of the vehicles here from the Aussies... MeatyCrab has one here. Apuntsel, what's that 2006 like to drive? Did you have an Ex prior to this one? The fog lights fill the entire space, unlike the 03, and the interior is very nice! If you had/have another Ex,how does this one compare? Thanks!

Hi Donner, So far my 06 (which I bought pre-owned in July of this year) has been great. I do have the known issue with shifting which does give it a jerky ride, especially at stop signs. I just have to make time to take it in to the dealer for that. I have the upgraded EB package that gives me leather and suede seats and they are very comfortable and have had many compliments on it. The fog lights do come in handy here for driving at night, don't want to meet up with a deer if I can help it. I replaced the stock fog bulbs with the silverstar's and seem to be brighter. I had a 98 XLT V6 which I thought was good at the time (though under powered), but the 06 V8 is much nicer.

I happen to like the amber turn signals in the rear tailights. I think it helps give the person behind you a little more presence. Not a big fan of the Mountaineer tailights with the faux grill guard, but otherwise like that kind of light.

Thank you! I see them (4th gen) a lot around here (So. Cal) and they look very comfortable, and they did a very nice job on the front end with this gen... Thank you for the review, that's very helpful. And yes, I noticed on the freeway and street, they move past me with ease... Excellent vehicle!
