Hi, I am changing my transmission fluid and filter for the first time - I have 84000 miles. In the bottom of the trans pan I found 3 small cylinder type peices. They are all the same size and look to be fabricated and in perfect condition. In other woirds, they dont look like they broke off of something or used to be one longer piece. They are all about 1/16 wide and 1/16 tall and very shiny. Anyone have any idea where they used to go and how important they are?

I'm guessing they are magnets.

Most likly the dipstick tube plug they knocked into the pan

1/16th? Can you photo them and post it? The plug is plastic and much larger than that.... but it is what I'd expect him to have found as well.

Called 3 tranny shops - the 1st guy told me they are spacers for the cork gasket and no worries. The other two shops said they had no idea and didnt think they were spacers for the gasket. I just looked at the old gasket and sure enough, on each side of each bolt whole are two tiny 1/16 round pieces... I feel better:) Gotta go back to work now, I have a trans that needs to be put back together! :D
