So I'm getting closer to getting my Ex on the road so I have to get serious about what tires to run. The biggest issue I'm having is whether to run 32x11.50 or 33x12.50.

I have 4" of lift and 4.56 gears. 32's look to be a bit better fit as far as clearance and reducing power loss and wear and tear but there are far fewer options than 33's.

I'm hoping some of you guys with experience with either or preferably both can way in on some pros and cons.

33s, trim your fenders and i think they'll fit fine.

I don't really know why but I'm not sure I want to trim the fenders. I guess I was hoping to keep it looking pretty :D

I have a set of 33's on my other rig so maybe I'll just swap them over and see if I like them. I was kind of figuring if I went with 32's I'd keep a bit more power and be able to stuff them farther.

swapping tires sounds good, just to see if they fit.

Welcome to the site. searhc around and you'll find just about anything you'll ever need regarding your explorer. I'm going to move this into the Tires and Wheels Forum too.

They should fit. I know the 4x4 is a little higher to start with though. Here is my old 92 4x4 with 4" Trailmaster and 33s on 15x8 wheels with 3.75 backspacing. You can get 33x12.5 or 33x10.5 on the stock wheel if you wanted. I would stay away from 16" wheels.

Hmmm I made a homemade lift of 4 inches and I can clear 35's... Only place I get close to rubbing is the front of the front fender liner... My rear does sit higher than the front though...
