3rd gear problem related to connection or solinoid?

well i check the cable on the gearbox, pulled them out and wiggle them back in, could only reach the 3 on the left side where the big shifter thing is, any of these do the 3rd gear? regards steve

That's a picture of the range sensor.

oh thats what it is, do you know where on the gearbox is the 3rd gear power? and i forgot to mention this is a 96 gearbox.

The front band is for 3rd, and 4th gear (overdrive). It is controlled by a servo piston which gets activated by the valve body, and solenoids.

The front band has an adjusting stud which is the first one closest to the bell housing.

iv found the thread on adjusting the bands and where they are etc, but can this stop my transmission flare 2 to 3, iv no flare going 4 to 3, the nearest to the drum housing is overdrive and the one near the range senor is? could that sort the flare, also i have a slow reverse engagement.
