I was wondering what kind of front differential is on the 3rd gen 4x4's. Is it a very limited slip or a full locking when engaged?

stock, it should just be open. rear will have crappy limited slip (but might as well be open for anything other than snow driving)

Really? I don't think so. I've been off-roading and it's at least limited slip. It also binds in the corners when engaged.

No it is open. The binding is due to front and rear wheel speeds. I have an 05 and a 91 with a Truetrac in the front differential. The 91 with a front limited slip is much different than the open 05. They are very different

Thanks guys. That makes sense since it's not a hardcore off roader. I'll sure keep this in mind. I always figured it was locked.

you know its easy to test if it's locked/posi or open... with your front hubs locked, 4x4 engaged and the vehicle in park, jack up both front tires... if you can spin one and the other spins the opposite direction, it's open.

suzuki samurai transfer case

tcase is seperate and will need to be changed seperately. service manual calls for automatic transmission fluid to be used (nissan's matic D fluid), but lots of us use the same gear oil used for the manual transmission for the tcase. just in case the oil seal between the transmission and tcase leaks. then the fluids that mix are the same.

I have had a lot of good luck with these guys, rebuilt transfer case, they have a bunch of salvage yards across the country

Are there available locking or LS front diffs for 3rd gens x's???
