Well, it didn't take long for my recently purchased '02 to show its Ford quality. I noticed a reddish spot on the garage floor and of course it was coming from the tranny. I have a question for any 3rd generation owners, does your tranny seem to delay shifting between 2nd and 3rd and sometimes between 3rd and 4th? What I mean is that mine seems to give the sensation of someone holding down the clutch too long on a manual transmission. It's not a hard shift, but you really feel it. I'm wondering if this and the leak could be related? Either way, it's under warranty and my good buddies at Ford will take a look at it, I just wanted to get a few opinions before I head over there. Thanks as always.

I know there has been a PCM update for them. But leaking fluid is not good. And since Ford got the brigh idea of making a fully sealed tranny, you can't even check the level of the fluid

What is a PCM update?

Just an update for the Engine's computer. Actually I think its ECM come to think of it.

Thanks for the info. I'll let you know what they say.
