So my 3rd row headrest is stuck in the down position. After doing plenty of research, everything pointed toward a bad Headrest mechanism.
I purchased a new one and set about replacing it. After getting it installed everything seemed good. I hit the power fold down button, the Headrest dropped down then the seat went down right after it just likes it should.
When i put the seat back up, the Headrest would not lock in the up position. Same problem I was having before.
I took the seat back apart and found that the lever mechanism on the power side cable is getting stuck down which is causing the head rest to get stuck down. I can operate the lever manually and get the Headrest to work. The motor will pull the lever on the way down to fold the head rest down but will not release the lever on the way back up.
Anyone with some insight would be much appreciated. I'm thinking the motor must be bad? Or perhaps the motor has somehow overrun its sequence and just isn't turning enough back the other direction to release it...? Pictures are attached.
