What's up folks, I was just wondering what the whole airbox mod is all about, I know you can get replacement air boxes but is there a way to modify the stock 4.0 sohc air box? I already have the k&n but is there something else I can do?

People modify their OEM air boxes (or just get rid of the OEM box) to increase air flow. If you are handy, you could either make your own set up out of PVC parts, or buy an adapter kit from an auto parts store. You need to have a high air flow filter, adapter for the MAF sensor, and duct work. Oil from those air filters which need oil gets into the MAF, and fouls things up over a period of time.

You can also just remove the intake in the front of the box. It just pulls out and can be reinstalled if you decide to later. When removed it leaves a larger opening and supposedly allows more air flow.
