I want to rebuild my engine i got quoted for 100 dollars a cylinder, that seemed ok, i want to get just a basic rebuild, if someone has done this could they please tell me how much they payed for it or if they did it themselves how muchall the parts were worth. i have 291,000 miles on my engine and i think it about time to tune it up.

286k on mine?

Any particular reason for the rebuild?

I'd run a compression test or leakdown test to see if the valves or rings are worn out. If you do a compression test and one cylinder is low then i'd think about rebuilding it. if they are all under 100 psi then it might be time for a rebuild.

I've got 235k on mine and it's only problem is noisy valvetrain.

yeah i have though about just doing the valve train, i want to do a rebuild becuase i get about 7 mpg and its mostly my transmission but i thoughthat if i get a new one which i plan on doi ng very soon and a rebuild for my engine it would get it back to the original mpg.
