4.0! Help! ME ASAP TURn it into a BEAST!!!!!!

I don't know about your local laws, but in my state, it is illegal to end the pipes before the back axles if it is a car/suv. Truck exhausts have to atleast end behind the back of the cab.

EDIT: I didn't refresh the page for a while... I see someone else arlready pointed that out.

does any one have a website for these laws?

Mufflers and exhaust systems. Prevention of noise. Every motor
vehicle, operated or driven upon the highways of the state, shall at all
times be equipped with an adequate muffler and exhaust system in
constant operation and properly maintained to prevent any excessive or
unusual noise and no such muffler or exhaust system shall be equipped
with a cut-out, bypass, or similar device. No person shall modify the
muffler or exhaust system of a motor vehicle in a manner which will
amplify or increase the noise emitted by the motor or exhaust system of
such vehicle above that emitted by the muffler or exhaust system
originally installed on the vehicle and such original muffler and
exhaust system shall comply with all the requirements of this section.
A muffler is a device consisting of a series of chambers or baffle
plates, or other mechanical design for the purpose of receiving exhaust
gas from an internal combustion engine, and effective in reducing noise.
An exhaust system is a series of mechanical devices for the purpose of
receiving exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine and expelling
it into the atmosphere.

so basically i cant do CRAP! ha so maybe i can cut the pipe right after My IMCO muffler and point it down... Which would make it about 5 to 6 feet less of pipe sound would travel thru making it louder? am i correct?

Yes, with one of the mufflers I had, I had removed my back section, and there is a noticeable sound difference, it is less muffled and sounds better, even if it has a muffler.

When u removed it where did u point the exhaust? and how much of a diffrence did it make? is it worth my time?

I had the exhaust straight back, and also turned down. I could not tell a difference between those. It is hard to describe a noise level diffrence, but it was a fair amount. I'm not sure if a different muffler would make a difference in if the back section mattered or not. Personally, I think removing the back section made a pretty big difference.

cuz i have faith in my IMCO muffler so maybe ill jus cut it after the muffler... not sure:eek: which way to point in case of high snow and offroading

So tom im gonna cut the pipe after the muffler... Now which way do i point it? i love to play in the snow and offroad.. does it mattER?

In all honesty, dont point it up, the exhaust gasses may get trapped and C0 is not good for you, lol. Even if your in snow it wont matter, afterall the exhaust is liek 200 sum degreese at the pipe so no worries there and besides there is enough pressure to blow it out.

And in case you cared i got another video of my exhaust!

Ok well i got off the pipe after the muffler... and holy s@%T its loud... The main reason why my explorer was not loud, is the stupid design... the pipe went up and over the rear axle and then down again... forming a U shape... That U shape was blocking so much power, it makes no sence why ford did it... It was such a pain in the ass to get off.. But now its off and my truck sounds sick.... At idle its loud and deep, sounds better then my friends v8... overall driving sounds good... when u rev real high, it does not turn ricy at all.. Im happy now im jus lookin for side exit tips nd i wana make them exit infront of the rear tire.. any one got a good link?

well man my advice to u... just go to auto zone and get some **** tip.. no one can see it anyway and its not like itll get noticed... btw killa did u cut ur pipe with a circular saw or wut?

Wont get noticed? its going to be the only explorer around with Side Exit Tips under the rear door... right in front of the rear tires lol... i need a nice tip...

Sawzall was the weapon of choice.. nd 4 blades lol

sorry man idk wut a sawzall is haha.. u went thru 4 blades too?? im thinkin i mite just go with a dremel although it mite take a while... and sorry about the reply for tips haha i get wut ur sayin... but yea it gives u a V8 rumble now? cuz i want a good sound but i dont feel like spending a bunch of money getting a muffler and getting it welded in

wait so u cut the pipe off after ur stock muffler or the imco muffler?

wait so u cut the pipe off after ur stock muffler or the imco muffler?

After the imco... but for now u got ur stock cut it off after that and see how it sounds... should def sound deeper.. then if u want it louder, get the imco:eek:   :D

yea cuz i really dont feel like spending a bunch of cash rite now.. but the way i see it, if i cut it off and there isnt much change, then at least ill have gotten rid of some ****ty wasted muffler pipe that gets in the way whenever it gets muddy.. that thing is always a pain to rinse off.. but yea i guess ill just go ahead and do it.. if anyone thinks im a dumbass for trying let me kno how u think itll turn out..

its a bicth to do.. but worth it.. once u see the stupid design.. and how power restricting it is , u will be happy u did it... The sound has got to be deeper and louder... Mine is atleast 5x's louder.. lol so with a stock muffler it shuld give u a nice tone.. do u have warranty on ur truck? if so, u kno that ur exhauast will no longer be covered...
