Actually, you do not need to cut the u in half. Just jack up the truck, the tires 2 or so inches off the ground in back, and then just take off the muffler hanger. The pipe can come out, it just cant quite go out unless you jack it up... so, if you dont want to cut the whole back pipe apart you can do that

Power tool happy is ok too, i just thought i would throw the idea out there. Also, when you get power tool happy, just remember, dont cut any pipes that say "fuel"

haha
good luck!

i put in a cherrybomb glasspack in this past weekend and it sounds fairly decent but i was wondering wut that imco sounds like... if u could get me a soundclip it would be much appreciated

it does not matter what muffler you put on your car, it will never be a 'beast' in the power department.

the car is already a beast in the WEIGHT department !

Unless your going to slap a supercharger on that 4.0L... dont even think of getting anything below the 1/4 speeds of your base honda civic.

when did i say anything about speed or 4 cylinder cars? i said i want a sound clip of an imco on the 4.0 liter to hear the sound

OKAY IM BACK! I KNOW MANY people are happy! Okay like u all know i cut the pipe after my IMCO muffler! and it sounded sick!! Couldnt be happier! and yes it sounded beastly! Any ways for Co2 reasons i put a little tip pointing down! to push the co2 down and away as i drive! Can u believe that little! **** changed the sound of the truck... and it now idles more quiet! at 3 rpms it sounds great! REAL LOUD AND good clean deepness. at wide open it sounds loud to, but diffrent.. I did much research and found out that a down pipe or tip pointed down makes ur car louder cuz the sound bounces off the street and echos louder! thats not the case here? any help or ideas?

well not saying this is a negative comment but there r a few things wrong with ur statements...

first of all... it wouldnt be bad for it to be pushing out CO2... u would have to worry if ur cat converter was busted and it was throwing out CO which is carbon monoxide and is very toxic...

and the "tip pointing down" is called a "turn-down" for short... just to save u some breath

and yes a turndown will muffle the sound a bit cuz the air has to travel farther... just like ur old piping that went over ur rear drivetrain.... not having a turndown may melt something or send heat into an area of ur car that it shouldnt.. from the looks of the drivetrain and chassis, i think leaving the turndown tip is a pretty smart choice... and yes the thing that causes soundwaves to sound louder from hitting a surface is called an echo..

just throwing those out there... leave ur turndown and just accept how it is cuz thats as far as ur gunna get it to deepness to a V8... a soundclip would be good though cuz ive got a glasspack and wondering wut a muffler sounds like with the 4.0

Thanks for the input.. It sounds good with a muffler... The problem with sound clips is pc speakers are crap and u really cant hear the bass of the engine... every sound clip i ever herd of an expo sounds bad cuz u cant hear the bass of it... I knew all the short names to the parts like turn down but just wanted to make it clear to people who did not know.. =) Anways All the whole turn down itself it about 7 inches and its amazing how much sound was lost with 7 inches extra... It idles a tad bit lower with the turn down, but it made certain RPM levers very deep like 1-3 rpms... :D  but i give up on explorer exhauast... ill never get the sound out of it that i want... I did what every mechanic said i couldnt and all the other haters on this website said i couldnt.. I made my expo sound nice and deep and loud and YES like a V8 for the most part... Dont get me wrong people hear my truck and love it and think its a v8.. but ill just have to get used to the sound wth the turn down... I think the only thing that can cure me is if i buy an older stang 5.0 and do full headers no cat and mufflers lol :D :D   THat will be loud enff for me...

well 7 inches sounds like a pretty big turndown... mine on my glasspack is very short... its like maybe 4 inches max... u mite could get another fitting at like an autozone or something
