The op doesn't expect super car performance , the problem is he knows what my V8 sport sounds like and has been for a ride in it , he just wants a little more , and its just cheaper and easier to do with the V8 , granted in a two door its way more noticeable , and as far as working on the V8 , its actually easier to get to everything , a little tighter on the front but everything else , bell housing bolts , torque converter bolts, starter , plugs , ect all easier, and with the amount of second gen explorers he has seen including mine all torn apart he knows this, and I'm sorry I know the 4.0 ohv is a great little motor but the sohc is way more suited power wise and all *****ing aside about the problems it has mine was still kicking at over 260k when I swapped it for the 5.0 , and with that kind of power and not in AWD it feels like a late 80s early 90s crown Vic , that will go through a couple feet of snow lol
Yeah I wasn't trying to sound like a pr**k, but it probably did come across as that.
V8 a sport, is my vote.
